Website Sitemap Index

Sitemaps are very helpful especially during the initial set up of a web site or during a redisign.  The two most popular versions are an XML Sitemap which is typically not seen by visitors and a HTML5 version such as this.  The benefit of a HTML version is that in addition to helping search engines find their way throughout your site structure and giving priority to the proper pages, you also provide another path for users to navigate your website.

One important note though is that you cannot submit an HTML sitemap in Google Webmaster Tools as it is not a supported sitemap format.  For this reason, some larger and more active sites prefer to strictly use the XML format, seeing as how, by nature, once search engines see you have higher activity and traffic, they will automatically be scanning your site more anyway.  If you have further questions about sitemap indexes, please feel free to contact us.
